As we approach International Women’s Day on March 8, 2025, it’s time to shine a spotlight on the unsung heroes of our society – the women in the cleaning industry. This year’s theme, “Accelerate Action,” (IWD: IWD 2025 campaign theme is ‘Accelerate Action’) couldn’t be more fitting for these hardworking individuals who tirelessly ensure our spaces are clean, safe, and hygienic. In Singapore, where cleanliness is not just a virtue but a way of life, these women play a crucial role in maintaining the city-state’s reputation as one of the cleanest places in the world.
Some may say that the cleaning industry has long been a sector where women have found opportunities for employment and career growth. Do you know in Singapore, women make up a significant portion of the cleaning workforce, bringing their skills, dedication, and attention to detail to homes, offices, and public spaces across the island.
