Ah, National Day. Oh should we say soon? As the nation preps and rehearse for the main day… Everyone dressing up in red and/or white, and the sound of fireworks. But before we can truly enjoy the festivities, there’s one crucial task: cleaning up the house. Now, any Singaporean (whether you are staying in a HDB, condo or landed) knows that cleaning is a serious business, especially when it comes to a national celebration.
First up, the living room. This is where the magic happens – the gathering of family and friends, the feasting, the catching up, and maybe even a little karaoke. The bathroom? A quick “chope” of the cleaning supplies and we’re off. We envision a sparkling clean bathroom, worthy of a visiting dignitary (or at least, worthy of our Instagram stories).
Finally, we tackle the dreaded task of mopping the floor. This is where the true Singaporean spirit shines through. We mop with the precision of a Formula 1 driver, ensuring every corner is spotless. After all, we wouldn’t want any “kaki” slipping and falling during the festivities, would we?
As we finish cleaning, we survey our handiwork with pride. The house is gleaming, ready to welcome guests and celebrate this momentous occasion. And just like Singapore itself, our home is a vibrant tapestry of cultures, traditions, and a whole lot of “jio” to celebrate.
